Nutrition: 7 Day Fruit, Vegetable, and Fish Protein Detox | No comments:

7 Days of Nutrition Detox

I came across a 7 day detox nutrition plan when I was going through my moms old nursing books from the 70's. It was tuck into an old microbiology book, and the pages was stuck together by some weird sticky goo. Needless to say all the information wasn't readable, so I decided to create one especially for me. Using all the fruits and veggies I enjoy the most, and created a grocery list and meal plan that is easy to follow. My 7 days will begin on June 22, 2015, I will update on Tuesday June 30, 2015.

Organic vs Non Organic

USDA's tested non-organic produce and they were found to contain pesticides even after washing.
I am pretty sure that this will make non-organic not so safe to eat. Organic also can be very expensive. But the secret I haven't told anyone until now is "Farmers Markets". I found several farmers markets in my area that sells organic fruits and vegetables that are in season. You can negotiate pricing and make away like a villain. My grocery list for the 7 days detox cost me exactly $65.23 including salmon (not farm raised). About 5 days in I had to spend about $12 more, because I craved mango's, blackberries, and the sweetest watermelon I ever tasted.

Benefits of Eating in Season

You can save money because it cost to grow fruits and vegetables out of season. The food industry like spoil us children with fruits out of season, because we crave the succulent mango in the dead of winter. It reminds us of how the summer hot sun feels on our skin. But getting these fruits or vegetables can come at a cost. Think of emissions from travel with such fruit, also picking fruit early so it can withstand travel is detrimental to that fruit. The nutritional value is lost when fruit and veggies are pick too soon. The taste of fruit out of season is not as good as when they are in season.

7 Day Detox Rules

 Fruit

  1. First eat whatever is in season till you are satisfied.

  2. Try to stay calm and immobile as much as possible after eating sitting upright for 10-15 minutes.  Doing so will help you digest your food efficiently.

3. Do not eat acid fruits not even juices. They are best assimilated in the earlier part of the day.

4. Wash all fruits and vegetable thoroughly. Of course this is not necessary for bananas.

5. Do not store fruits in the fridge or where they are covered, let them breathe as much as possible.

6. Limit yourself to 3 oranges a day, if need be for that many and let your taste buds judge for you.

Vegetables

1. Rinse your leafy vegetables under cold running water and then rinse with drinking water.

2. Don't use soap to wash them because by nature they will absorb the suds which you might end up ingesting. Vinegar is the best cleanser.

3. Store them in a clean plastic bag that you should pick up from the stores where you purchase them fresh.
4. Leave a little breathing space for the leaves by not sealing the bag shut.

7. Vegetables are best saved for night times, although they are powerful cleansers, they are not as proactive as fruit and thus would give you a much calmer sleep, not unless you have done a fast of a few to several days and are breaking it with fruit.

8. Try to consume leafy veggies within 5-7 days after purchasing them from the store.
