One of the easiest way to add low-calorie protein to your diet is by the use of protein powders. It is helpful especially in addition of nutrition to foods that have large amounts of carbohydrates. Similar to other sources of protein, protein powder helps in stabilization of blood sugar, building of muscles, satisfying hunger and also strengthening the body’s immunity. There are many different types of protein powder which include whey, egg, hemp, brown rice, soy and beef protein powder. Whey protein powder is the most popular powder and this is because of its ease in dissolving and the good balance it has for the amino acids. 





           Other advantages as to why this type is mostly preferred is because it is rapidly digested and thus making it the ideal supplement for the normal workout. Soy protein powder has fallen out of favor to many people. this is because the powder is harvested from genetically modified plants and it also contains phytoestrogens hormone which the female plant type of estrogen hormone. No matter what their origin is, protein powders can be loaded with artificial sweeteners, flavors and coloring and that is why it is very imperative to always read the labels before you make a purchase. Cooking with protein powder can sometimes be challenging but with the right procedure the process is simplified. 

Below is a description of how protein powder can be added to different foods.

Classic Smoothie – most recipes recommend that in one cup of normal milk and half a cup of fruit juice, you will need to add a tablespoon of protein powder. You can also add a spoonful of nut butter and/or a bland green such as spinach.




Pancakes – to your normal pancake recipe, you will add a couple of tablespoons of your selected protein powder and then some extra milk followed by a couple of egg whites.

Vegetable Soup – to your favorite vegetable soup, add a tablespoon or two of either pea or whey protein powder. This enhances the flavor of the your soup. It also makes your soup to be thick and creamier.

Oatmeal – you will first of all add your preferred protein powder to your oatmeal and mix them. If you use denser powders such as pea or rice powders, then you will add some extra milk to make it light.





Pudding – using the appropriate procedures, you will prepare your pudding. With your pudding ready, add one or two tablespoons of either brown rice or casein protein powder with some little milk after which you will stir to mix them.
